Hello Winter
Oh well, winter has arrived in our little corner of the UK. Frosts for the school run, driving rain and a chilly wind have certainly driven us to dig out our lovely layering pieces and we're up to 4 layers!
We would like to talk about gilets and ponchos today. Both words conjure up horror in some people's minds because they are thinking 'sombrero' or 'gilet - what is that?' Well, rest assured that if you substitute 'sleeveless jacket or waistcoat' for gilet and 'wrap' for poncho, everything appears normal again!
Gilets first then. These have the ability to transform an otherwise ordinary outfit into something rather special. Take today - wearing a simple combo of skinny jeans, boots and a plain Charli knit (it's in the sale!), off I went for a much-needed visit to the hairdressers........about 5 seconds before I left the house, I spotted the rather fetching Danish Minimum fur gilet and threw it on. Et voila! Outfit transformed!
Right, onto ponchos - the most forgiving of cover-ups! Ponchos, or wraps, are generally one size - they slip over your shoulders or over your head and sit just nicely, not really caring what size you are! Our particular favourite of the season is the Duffy Wrap in poppy and nightshade (the colours are fantastic!). Take a look at a recent Scottish break and ideal photo opportunity! This heavy knit has an integrated scarf and the whole thing is supersoft where it is against your skin.
We have ponchos of different shapes and styles this season and can always help you choose! Is one ever enough?! Nope.
Seriously though, if you're stuck for a gift for a special lady or want to treat yourself - give a poncho a try with, or without the sombrero............
Happy layering xxx
