What to wear to: a summer wedding
To launch our new blog series we thought we'd tackle the one look that most of our customers come to us for help with - the summer wedding outfit. Whether you're the mother of the bride or a distant cousin, finding an outfit for the big day that is going to work from day to evening, is going to be cool and comfortable for 10+ hours and isn't going to be worn by half the women on the dancefloor is a tough shopping list.
Here are some key pieces to consider that will tick all the boxes for style and practicality and we guarantee you'll be wearing again and again this season:
The statement jacket
Whether you're the mother of the bride, conscious of your arms or just don't want to rely on the British summer weather, adding a statement jacket to your wedding day outfit is a great solution. Villagallo is the go-to brand for beautiful print summer jackets. This longer line, cotton-blend coat has a delicate jaquard weave with metallic detailing. The streamline silhouette is super-flattering, with concealed fastenings and in-seam pockets. It's a great piece if you already have a neutral dress that you want to rewear and update. We love this jacket for summer as it's a real style chameleon - worn with heels and a shift dress it's the perfect wedding outfit but come the weekend with jeans, a simple white tee and pumps it elevates your weekend wardrobe to new heights (Sarah coat, Villagallo, £259).
The bright accessories
If you're on a budget, changing up your look with some key accessories is a great way to reinvent an old dress. We love British accessories designer, Bell and Fox. This pop of red would look great with a monochrome dress, or picking our the colours in a print jacket. We also love the fact it's slightly larger than your average clutch, meaning you can fit in blister plasters for the dancefloor as well as a packet of tissues for the ceremony! (Sofia Ampersand Clutch in red leather, Bell and Fox, £65).
The print dress
Nothing says high summer like a floral print dress. If you want to go bold, this tropical print dress is fun and vibrant in a flattering a-line. ( Adriana dress, £189, Villagallo).
The 'all season long' dress
If you're attending a destination wedding, or looking for a dress that is going to last longer than the speeches, we love this blue ombre dress. Worn with wedges and statement tassel earrings it's the perfect 'luxe boho' look for a more informal setting, or even barefoot at a beach wedding. (Fedora dress, £159, 2NDDAY - Day Birger et Mikkelsen).
